Clinton Intermediate Elementary

The Clinton School District hired Crafton Tull to provide engineering design services, including the addition of a 62,000-square-foot elementary to the existing 29,500--square-foot Intermediate School in the Clinton School District. Many classrooms at the end of their useful life began presenting circulation and security issues for the District. The addition provides new classrooms and support areas for the K-3 students. The new administrative offices, media center, computer lab, student dining facilities,  and safe room are shared with the Intermediate students. The new classrooms also afford students access to cable television, upgraded computer networks, and an intercom system. Design measures, including the use of natural light in all classrooms and motion detectors linked to the lighting system help cut utility expenses while also providing security. The overall result is an exciting new facility that minimizes costs while helping to maximize student potential. There are sustainable design features throughout the project, including heat-reflective roofing and paving, water-conserving plumbing features, energy-efficient HVAC and electrical systems, and low VOC content products.
